Enhanced Data Sync

CRM Application Detail

The
following is a sampling of the most important enhancements of the new Data
Synchronization System. The Data Synchronization System has been completely
redesigned for ease of use, ease of setup, and reliability.

· Automated
installation and easy remote configuration — The new automated installation will
allow you to more easily setup both the host and the remote installations. At
the remote location, a non technical user can setup the remote by answering a
few questions like, who am I
and what
telephone number to dial to the host. The host will recognize who they are
and then complete action instructions for that particular remote will be
transferred to that remote. This makes setup at the remote location a simple
process. You don't have to ship the remote computers to a central location to
set them up.
· New
user interface
—
The new
graphical user interface makes setting up your system much simpler. Most of the
configurations needed to get a remote system up and working are accessible
through the user interface. The tabbed design makes finding the configuration
option you need simple and fast. Modem activity LEDs are duplicated on the
screen so that you can monitor connection activity.
· Year
2000 support
—
The
newly enhanced Window's system fully supports both Year 2000 dates and non-year
2000 dates. This means that you can use the new system with older versions of
Staffware and Staffware version 4.0 simultaneously. Data will be shared between
the new and old Staffware will not be corrupted or lost.
· The
Window's Data Synchronization and DDB for DOS are protocol compatible
—
This
means that Data Synchronization for Windows and DDB for DOS will connect with
one another. You don't have to upgrade all of your locations simultaneously. You
can upgrade one at a time or when your busy schedule will allow you to get to
them.
· Modem
selection is easier
—
Modem
selection is now accomplished by selecting your modem from a pick list. Then all
the correct settings for that particular modem are automatically set. The new
system uses standard Windows communication routines. Over 1200 modems are
directly supported from the pick list.
· Support
for baud rates of 115,200
—
Data
Synchronization supports all of the faster baud rates with the new modems sold
today. This means that your connection time, never very long with the system,
will be even shorter.
· Support
for both modem connection or network connections by single button click
—
You can
now choose at the point of connection how you want to connect to the host
system. If you are on a laptop in the field, you can connect with a single
button click via dial-up connection. Or if you happen to be in the office
connected to a LAN or WAN, then you can synchronize your data by a single button
click. It's that easy.
· More
intelligent and reliable changes processing
—
We have
improved the changes processing by making it more intelligent. In other words
you don't have to tell the Data Synchronization system exactly what changes to
process, it figures out from the location code and then processes what it needs.
This means that we don't rely on human judgment to determine what files need
processing and when. This takes the chance of error to almost zero.
Additionally, shared databases used to require a significant amount of setup to
route properly. With the built-in intelligence, they are treated just like any
other database.
· 4
levels of transaction logging
—
This makes determining exactly what is happening with your
